myTRACTO & Quickplanner

TRACTO-TECHNIK GmbH & Co. KG

A digital ecosystem for the planning and operation of trenchless drilling
myTRACTO, TRACTRON and Quickplanner together form a centralised digital ecosystem that offers customers worldwide easy access to TRACTO applications. Powerful apps such as spare parts management and planning tools drive digitalisation forward whilst simultaneously strengthening collaboration and synergies between customers, service teams and partners.

Background

TRACTO has been a market and technology leader in the field of trenchless laying technology for many years and is consistently committed to digital products and services. At the same time, it became clear that fragmented applications and established structures in sales, service and engineering were making it increasingly difficult to provide efficient support to dealers and customers.

With myTRACTO, a central portal platform has been created to provide staff and end customers with unified access to product information, order status, support documents and service processes – including direct, transparent communication with the TRACTO team.

In parallel, TRACTO is pursuing the goal of providing an intuitive, web-based application for planning horizontal drilling with Quickplanner. Users – ranging from design offices and construction companies to in-house teams – should be able to create, analyse and export precise drilling paths, regardless of the make of drilling rig used.

To meet these challenges, we have worked with TRACTO to build an integrated digital ecosystem: myTRACTO as the central customer and service portal, and Quickplanner as a specialised technical application, closely linked via myTRACTO as a single sign-on portal for all applications.

Project highlights

Central customer portal myTRACTO

myTRACTO is designed to act as a digital control centre for staff, dealers and end customers:

  • Staff can process customer enquiries more efficiently, resolve service cases more quickly and communicate seamlessly with customers.
  • Customers can conveniently access product details, order and delivery statuses, and support documents, and get in touch directly with the TRACTO team.

Intuitive drilling path planning with Quickplanner

Quickplanner calculates the optimal drilling path in a matter of seconds, taking into account relevant constraints such as drilling specifications, elevation profiles and obstacles.

  • The application is browser-based, uses a modern Angular interface with Google Maps integration, and visually represents drilling paths.
  • Calculated drilling paths can be exported as PDF, CSV or DXF files and used for further steps in planning and execution.
  • The solution can be used regardless of the make of drilling rig, thereby supporting a wide variety of application scenarios.

Further development is carried out agilely in three-week sprints following the Scrum methodology, with clear sprint goals, automated testing and deployments.

Consistent user experience across the TRACTO ecosystem

myTRACTO brings together all relevant information, applications and data in one place, thereby significantly improving access to solutions and services for TRACTO users.

myTRACTO provides the central infrastructure for all apps within the single sign-on solution. All myTRACTO applications are accessible via a configurable dashboard and can draw on centralised data

This creates a seamless digital user experience: from planning the drilling route in Quickplanner to service, machine and licence information in the myTRACTO customer portal.

Goals

  • Modernisation and expansion of existing digital customer and service channels.
  • Establishment of a seamless, digital process from drill path planning (Quickplanner) through to operation and service (myTRACTO).
  • Development of new, data-driven customer offerings and services relating to machines, licences and apps.
  • Improving the user experience through a central portal and an intuitive planning application.
  • Optimising internal processes in sales, service and engineering through centralised data management and self-service options.
  • Increasing transparency regarding machines, projects and digital products across the entire ecosystem.
  • Creation of a scalable platform for further digital products and specialist applications.

Concept

  • Mapping of the customer and company structure, including roles and rights management.
  • Integration of existing and new applications into the myTRACTO portal, e.g. via app management, licence management and machine and data APIs.
  • Data and process integration into TRACTO’s existing IT landscape, in particular via Microsoft Dynamics as the CRM system.
  • Drilling route planning with Quickplanner: data transfer to calculation services, algorithmic determination of optimal drilling paths, visualisation and export to common formats.
  • Technical integration of myTRACTO and Quickplanner via centralised authentication and profile settings.
  • Agile implementation of both developments using backlog management in Azure DevOps and a time-and-materials model.
