BöckerConnect customer portal: developing new services based on IoT data

Böcker Autokrane

Project

Creating new solutions for service processes, improving product knowledge and at the same time generating new added value for customers: Together with us, Böcker is developing a solution that offers many services for both the end customer and Böcker itself in addition to live monitoring.

Highlights of the project

Intelligent geofencing

To support fleet management, the customer portal has a geofencing function that acts as anti-theft protection. Users can define how and where their devices are allowed to move in the form of an area on a map. If the device leaves the area, the user receives an alarm.

Direct remote service

Böcker service technicians can view the crane control system in a live view via the customer portal. In the event of problems, the service team can start analysing the problem remotely and provide direct and uncomplicated assistance - without the need for technicians to visit the site.

Remote status monitoring

Thanks to the permanent data transmission of all relevant crane parameters, Böcker can proactively recognise maintenance requirements, faults or problems with its customers' machines - before the customer even notices them - and thus proactively initiate the service.

Goals

  • Offering digital services including localisation and theft protection
  • Fleet management for the end customer - overview of all vehicles, even from a smartphone
  • Faster and optimised service, even remotely
  • Customer loyalty through a central portal and customer-centric services

Concept

  • Data transmission from the CAN bus to the cloud
  • Live view of the crane control system for direct support
  • Fleet management incl. maintenance and services

Technology

  • IoT platform as the basis
  • Implementation of the target architecture on Microsoft Azure
  • Angular as front-end technology

Our services

  • Development of the technical concept
  • Agile implementation of the cloud development
  • Operation and further development of the IoT cloud solution

Since 1958, Böcker, which is based out of Werne, Germany, has been creating professional applications for lifting systems. In addition to inclined, construction and industrial lifts, the company also specialises in mobile cranes, which it has produced since 1989. A truck-mounted or mobile crane is the ideal solution for building sites and for sites where a static building crane is unable to provide the necessary flexibility. In order to develop products that optimally reflect real-world needs, the company is in constant communications with tradespeople such as roofers and carpenters. In addition to its large service network, Böcker also offers customers the option of renting machines.
