The intelligent way to digitalise energy storage systems

INTILION energy storage systems

Project

INTILION deploys an IoT platform developed by adesso to process telemetry data automatically in the cloud and uses a smart administration portal and digital services to create added value and increase sales.

Highlights of the project

Detailed customer analysis

Customer behaviour can be analysed in detail and the data used accordingly via PowerBI dashboards linked to Azure Data Lake.

Direct customer support

With the help of the service dashboard, anomalies and faults can be detected and analysed remotely before customers notice them. Remote support for the commissioning of battery storage units is also guaranteed.

Reliable data

Data resolution of 200 milliseconds ensures accurate and detailed information.

Goals

  • To increase sales, create added value and develop data-driven business models with the aid of intelligent data collection
  • To achieve sustainable revenue growth via data analytics and develop smart services
  • To reduce consumption of resources and increase efficiency via automated processes and reporting
  • To map essential functions in reports with a high degree of efficiency and realise customer-specific embedding in the IoT platform
  • To minimise risk across all departments at the company by creating a high level of transparency based on data

Concept

  • Automated processing of large amounts of data and calculation of important KPIs through targeted and structured data acquisition, data storage, pre-processing and visualisation
  • Use of a minimum number of gateway types and a common, standardised database
  • Standardised interfaces and products and a uniform administration platform

Technologies

  • IoT platform as the basis
  • Azure Databricks notebooks for processing data in the data lake
  • Azure Functions as automation of the notebooks

Our services

  • Providing configured data loggers for fine-grained recording of battery systems’ structured usage data
  • Connecting stationary storage systems, trains and ground conveyors
  • Saving all data in Azure Data Lake Storage (2.6 TB as of 2020 and a 320-GB monthly increase as of autumn 2021) for long-term storage of all raw data, to individually process mass data and as the basis for big data strategies
  • Providing measured KPIs (FCE, SoC, DoD, histograms)
  • Implementing a portal, including displaying devices, their location, raw data, detailed evaluations/performance analysis and an overview of the available reports
  • Implementing the customer solution based on an IoT platform to quickly process mass data, visualise data in a way that is suitable for end customer needs, filter data based on relevance to customer as well as to utilise data that has been aggregated over time
  • Providing consultation while data analysis is being performed with PowerBI
  • Operating and managing the customer application

As a wholly-owned subsidiary of the HOPPECKE Group, INTILION has focused on the development and provision of customised lithium-ion energy storage solutions since 2019. With roots in Hoppecke, the team can look back on more than 90 years of experience in the development and production of electrochemical energy storage systems for industrial applications that are built to the highest quality standards. Its product portfolio includes stationary battery storage systems as well as systems for industrial traction applications.
