Launching careers with future prospects: adesso is training more than 50 young talents

On August 1, adesso welcomed 54 new students and apprentices on cooperative education programmes and full-time apprentices at ten German locations. The new training cohort is particularly well represented at adesso’s locations in the Ruhr Valley, for example in Dortmund and Essen: 35 young talents are starting their professional careers at Germany’s largest IT service provider here alone. In this way, the Dortmund-based company is again emphasising its special role as an employer and actively contributing to the further development of the Ruhr Valley as the technology region of tomorrow.

The young talents start their training in various IT specialities, for example application development, system integration and software engineering, and commercial careers, including office management. Cooperative education programmes such as business informatics, IT, and software engineering are also among the training courses available at adesso.

adesso has a tradition of greeting new trainees to their respective offices with a Welcome Day. In addition to the personal welcome, the newcomers received a structured onboarding with initial insights into the adesso world as well as a practical introduction to the working methods of the various departments.

In-depth training is a key building block, and also the best investment in the future – both for our young talents and for our company. Many of our current managers once started at adesso as trainees or students. This shows that those who start here have the best prospects for developing individually and taking on responsibility”, emphasises Kristina Gerwert, the adesso SE Executive Board member responsible for human resources.

Structured training with a focus on individual development

Training at adesso is designed to promote both professional expertise and personal skills. The combination of theoretical knowledge from vocational school or university studies and practical application at the company enables a holistic entry into the world of IT. Trainees undertake real projects, work in agile teams, and gain access to in-house and external courses – from specialist training and certifications in relevant technologies to language courses and soft skills.

One key training component is personal assistance from experienced colleagues who act as mentors. Another priority is individual support: training content and development paths are tailored to the strengths and interests of the individual talents. The aim is to lay the foundation for a long–term career at adesso, in an environment shaped by the exchange of knowledge, cooperation, and a love of innovation.

Strategic talent development as part of the corporate culture

adesso is continuously investing in training for its employees. In addition to traditional training formats, the company offers targeted support programmes for professional and personal development. To this end, adesso provides the group-wide learning platform “adgrowth”, internal learning hubs, and training courses for the ongoing development of managers.

“As a growing IT company with more than 11,000 employees worldwide, we see it as our corporate and social responsibility to qualify young people, promote regional talents, and create long-term prospects”, adds Kristina Gerwert. “At a time when skilled workers are in short supply, we deliberately use our own systematic training programme to fulfil this responsibility. Our goal is not only to secure our own skilled labour needs, but also to enable young people to participate in society. The 2025 training year is another step on this path for us”.
