Data driven or left behind?
Why you shouldn't miss the EVU Process and IT Days on 5–7 May 2025
From 5 to 7 May 2025, Berlin will be the place to be for anyone who thinks about energy supply in terms of data rather than just digital technology. At the EVU Process and IT Days, you will meet relevant industry players and find us right in the middle of the action.
Our goal: to work with you to find out how modern data platforms, good requirements gathering and data & analytics can take your IT transformation and projects to a new level – away from monolithic legacy systems and towards an agile, innovative, data-driven company. In short: your road to a data-driven enterprise.
And because we prefer to show rather than just talk, we're bringing an exciting customer presentation with us. Be inspired by how Wien Energie is already taking the next step together with adesso.
Why dealing with increasing amounts of data and data platforms is now a top priority
Energy suppliers are under pressure: volatile markets, new regulations, rising customer expectations. Anyone who still thinks in silos or relies on manual processes will not be around for long. What you need is an adequate way of dealing with increasing amounts of data, a central data platform that makes relevant information available in real time, and a modern data architecture. Modular, scalable and cloud-ready – this will enable you to lay the foundation for new, innovative products and noticeably optimise your business processes. And best of all, you will be laying the foundation for use cases that deliver real added value. As an experienced partner for digital transformation, adesso supports energy suppliers in implementing innovative solutions and tapping new potential – in a practical, collaborative manner and with an eye for the big picture.
Let's talk in Berlin!
Let's meet in person at the EVU Process and IT Days 2025 to discuss your data strategy, your challenges in the digital energy transition, specific use cases, or simply how we can work together to make the energy world a little more digital.
You can find us in the exhibitor area – or directly after our customer presentation. Bring your questions with you. We'll bring the answers – and maybe even some ideas for your next flagship project.
Come and visit us: 5–7 May 2025, Berlin – EVU Process and IT Days. See you there!
What does ‘real-time pricing’ actually mean, and why is it relevant right now?
Real-time pricing (RTP) is more than just a buzzword – it is a real game changer in the electricity market. The ongoing rollout of smart meters is creating new opportunities and challenges that need to be implemented in the IT systems of energy suppliers. You can adjust your electricity prices in real time based on current market prices, grid utilisation, weather data and location-specific characteristics. It's a strategic tool that allows you to rethink your pricing and procurement processes.
The goal:
maximum transparency and flexibility – for you and your customers. RTP enables you to conduct structured price tests and analyse the price elasticity of your target groups. We show you how price-sensitive customer segments react to which stimuli – at a granular level. This opens the door to hyper-personalised tariffs and dynamic offering models that are precisely tailored to demand and user behaviour. This is data-driven optimisation of business processes in its purest form.
What you need to successfully implement RTP:
- Smart metering and IoT: Without real-time consumption data, there can be no real-time pricing.
- Analytics infrastructure: Systems that analyse data points in real time – for example, with AI-supported forecasting logic.
- Location data as a basis for decision-making: Consumption behaviour depends heavily on location-specific characteristics. An inner-city household behaves differently from an industrial company in a rural area.
- Digital customer interfaces: The added value of a flexible tariff must be tangible for the customer – otherwise the effect will be lost.
Advantages of RTP for your procurement
When you integrate real-time price signals from the market into your purchasing processes, your procurement becomes reactive, flexible and strategic at the same time. You can anticipate purchasing decisions instead of reacting to them – and take action exactly when the market offers you the best conditions.
The combination of real-time pricing, algorithmic forecasting and automated processing makes your company a truly data-driven player in the energy market.
Enabling real-time pricing for time-variable electricity tariffs based on smart meters (Real-Time Pricing (RTP)) – Wien Energie
Wien Energie and adesso are working together on a project to implement time-variable electricity tariffs for customers based on smart meter data.
At our stand at the EVU Process and IT Days, you can find out
- how smart meter data can enable time-variable tariffs via real-time pricing in SAP (RTP capability),
- what obstacles there are to innovative IT projects, and
- how important and crucial good requirements documentation is for efficient project progress later on.
And most importantly: how Wien Energie achieved all this together with adesso – from requirements gathering to implementation. Christian Ranftl (Project Manager, Wien Energie) and Andreas Essl (Requirements Engineer, adesso) look forward to seeing you there.
