Torsten Wegener joins Executive Board of adesso SE

The Supervisory Board of adesso SE has appointed Torsten Wegener to the Executive Board as of 1 April 2021, bringing the total number of members to six. This new addition to the management is one way the IT service provider is responding to its rapid growth, the diversification of business fields and target industries, and advances in internationalisation.

In his new role on the Executive Board of adesso SE, Torsten Wegener (54) will be responsible for the interdisciplinary Data & Analytics and Microsoft technology divisions, which were previously headed by Executive Board members Dirk Pothen and Andreas Prenneis. As of 1 July, Wegener will additionally take on responsibility for adesso’s Digital Experience division, which was formed last year from the group’s agency subsidiary business.

Wegener has years of experience as a tech founder and managing director of his own successful IT companies in Germany and other countries (C:1 Solutions GmbH and DD SYNERGY AG). He plans to bring his expertise as an entrepreneur and international experience to his new management position at adesso.

Manager with international experience in the digital and data-driven business

Wegener spent the past seven years working in Germany for U.S.-based global corporate group Cognizant Technology Solutions (CTSH) (about 290,000 employees worldwide). In his first role there, he was responsible for the data-driven business in the position of Vice President Artificial Intelligence & Analytics. Later, as Vice President Digital Business, he was also responsible for digital strategy, interactive, IoT and digital engineering. Wegener was instrumental in shaping a corporate strategy with a sharp focus on growth in these roles.

To Prof. Dr Volker Gruhn, Chairperson of the Supervisory Board of adesso SE, Wegener’s management experience and entrepreneurial background make him the perfect fit for the position: “Torsten Wegener will add to our capabilities in the areas of digital transformation and development of data-driven systems. As a former entrepreneur and a successful manager of large international service units, he is perfect for a role in our management. He also has a pronounced ‘customer first’ approach that is right in line with our IT philosophy at adesso.”

Torsten Wegener is looking forward to his new challenge at adesso. He already has an important goal: “I view building and growing data capability across the board as one of the most important parts of the digital transformation at any company. The key here is to make decisions based on an analysis of existing data and harness the insights derived from that to add value to existing business models and shape completely new ones: models that put customer benefit at the forefront and offer customers a range of digital products and services tailored just to them at all times. That’s why I’m also impressed by adesso’s view of itself as an IT service provider that does more than just manufacture products under a contract, instead taking an interdisciplinary and interconnected approach grounded in the customer’s perspective.”

Contract extension in the Executive Board for Dirk Pothen

Furthermore, the Supervisory Board of adesso SE has extended the contract of Dirk Pothen on the Executive Board for another five years until September 2026, thus ensuring continuity in the successful management team.
