IT rocks the stadium. It’s not football but the digitalisation of society that will be enjoying the limelight at BVB Stadion Dortmund on 9 September 2021. adesso, official sponsor of the Borussia Dortmund youth sector and women’s team, is hosting this year’s adesso digital day at Signal Iduna Park in Dortmund. The focus this year is on the digital transformation, with topics such as what is already happening, what will shape competition tomorrow, what a successful business transformation looks like and why sustainability is more important than ever.
Customers, partners and interested business contacts can take part in the event on site at BVB Stadion Dortmund or online via live stream. At the event, adesso will bring together the top experts on the hottest IT topics of our time. The highlights:
The popular tech blogger and author gave a “passionately positive” opening speech at this year’s re:publica and drew “five digital lessons from the coronavirus”, including: “Digital transformation does not happen without pressure.”

In addition to providing strategic advice to international footballers around the world, the communications subsidiary of the sports management company ROGON is working on a variety of projects, including “life after football” concepts. The session will examine integrated career development in professional sport, how it works today and how players will be managed in the future.
Monika Schulze, Innovation Management at Zurich Group Germany, reports on the goal of making Zurich one of the most sustainable companies in the world. Having launched the Planet Hero Award, Zurich is looking for the best and most effective projects for improving environmental and climate protection. adesso supports the award as a development partner.
Prof. Volker Gruhn, founder and Supervisory Board Chairman of adesso, presents the concept behind his “New School of IT” for the first time. The role of IT has fundamentally changed – the cost centre of yesterday has become the driver of the digital business models of tomorrow. Successfully shaping and implementing this development for companies is the idea behind the “new school of thought for IT organisations”.

adesso customers and partners in the industrial sector and public administration offer exciting insights into their business and how they benefit from digitalisation solutions, with practical examples from the efforts to fight the pandemic, NGOs and development policy, service departments at banks and energy utilities, the healthcare sector and guarantee providers, as well as from the fields of artificial intelligence, data science, smart services and much more.
Guests will get to peek behind the scenes at the “yellow and black temple” and see the trainers’ bench, the south stand, the press lounge and the stadium’s holding cells, just to name a few examples. They will also learn how Borussia Dortmund creates a fully immersive experience in the cloud for its fans and how the DIY chain toom has managed to stay on top of innovation management even during the pandemic.
Sustainability is also a key topic for adesso. As adesso Executive Board member Stefan Riedel notes: “Customers, employees and business partners make decisions depending on whether or not companies credibly support the issue of sustainability, which means the topic has an effect on competition.” He adds: “It’s not just major insurance companies that are feeling the effects of climate change in terms of claim settlement. Production companies can also feel in their supply chains that the global economy has become much more vulnerable on the whole. Reinventing IT doesn’t just mean including green IT in IT strategies, but also placing sustainability front and centre when it comes to the design and implementation of customer journeys, processes and applications.”
Guests can join the event live at Signal Iduna Park (100 limited places for guests who have been vaccinated, tested negative or can provide proof of prior Covid infection) or online via live stream.
Representatives from the media are very welcome to join online. Programme and registration can be found at: www.IT-Spielmacher.de/digitalday
