What makes this new solution special is that the edge-AI enhanced camera and video management system is both a classic reactive recording instrument as well as a smart sensor that actively processes visual information. The integrated AI analyses the video data in real time, automatically detects movement patterns, and continuously creates a complete situational overview of the building and perimeter. If the AI detects anomalies in the livestream based on predefined rules, it informs security staff. The actual assessment of the situation and the decision to intervene ultimately lie with those responsible for security.

adesso Protects Headquarters with AI-Based Monitoring Solution from Staige
adesso is expanding its security concept at its Dortmund headquarters with intelligent security technology from edge AI specialist Staige. The state-of-the-art surveillance technology uses the existing camera infrastructure and supplements it with artificial intelligence to create a fully integrated security system. For Germany’s leading IT service provider, which serves numerous companies in the critical infrastructure sector, the project represents a key component in strengthening its corporate security strategy.

AI and Cameras Merge into a Single Tightly Woven Security Network
The new surveillance solution continuously records the company premises and generates a continuous two-dimensional image of the area from the camera images. Time-controlled security zones allow automated activation of protected areas depending on the time of day, the day of the week, and the level of protection needed. The integrated edge AI uses the live feed from the cameras to detect the movements of people on the premises in real time and display them as anonymised dots in the situational overview.
The AI combines the signals from all the cameras in order to enable tracking between different cameras along the buildings. Movements are reliably re-identified even after changes in perspective or when areas are briefly obscured. The real-time situational overview of buildings and perimeters allows security staff to check routes, directions of movement, and locations in the event of a notification from the AI and to make quick decisions.
The building and perimeter security concept, enhanced with AI capabilities, has been reviewed for compliance with regulatory requirements (General Data Protection Regulation, EU AI Act). This applies to both traditional camera recording and real-time AI analyses. AI-based detection of individuals relies solely on capturing generic physical characteristics such as height and clothing, without storing or analysing them.
