adesso and Schleupen join forces to advance digitalisation of utilities market

Schleupen SE, one of the most innovative developers of software for the German utilities market, and adesso SE, a leading German IT service provider, are teaming up with the aim of helping companies in the energy and water industries efficiently digitalise their business processes. Schleupen will contribute one of the most advanced ERP and billing systems for the German utilities industry, while adesso has extensive experience in the integration of software systems at municipal and other utilities companies – especially in an SAP environment.

Prior to agreeing the new alliance, the two partners had already worked together on a number of successful projects, one of which saw adesso provide support for Schleupen users with mass processes such as gas disconnection or conversions carried out by metering point operators. “The partnership with adesso has come at the right time,” says Dr. Volker Kruschinski, Chairman of the Schleupen SE Executive Board. “We are competing in an encouragingly high number of tenders. Today, large companies in particular have adopted a best-of-breed approach and are looking for the strongest partner separately for each individual task – including consulting. When it comes to new customer projects like these, our alliance with adesso puts us in an excellent position. That’s why we are delighted that adesso is already familiar with Schleupen.CS and is amassing other expertise.”

Schleupen was quick to realise that the challenges facing the energy and water industries could only be met with a new generation of software. As a result, the company developed a completely new platform, Schleupen.CS. The solution, which is based on state-of-the-art architecture plus web services, offers the latest technologies such as HTML5 interfaces, the BPMN 2.0 process modelling standard, distributed databases and much more. It is predominantly deployed as software as a service (SaaS) in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud, giving users a high degree of flexibility combined with low process costs.

adesso sees tremendous potential in the software platform on account of the extensive number of new innovations, such as continuous billing and the standard dynamic tariffs functionality.

“Schleupen.CS is one of the most advanced billing solutions on the market right now,” says Andreas Prenneis, member of the adesso SE Executive Board. “It is extremely scalable, highly automated yet very flexible. The combination of these features gives the software platform significant competitive advantages, which means that Schleupen.CS already offers today what utilities companies will need tomorrow.” Prenneis believes that the solution makes for an attractive addition to the product portfolio available to adesso customers. adesso’s considerable experience with SAP systems and infrastructures is particularly beneficial, since Schleupen.CS is being integrated more and more often into SAP environments as a powerful billing solution.
