But how can these principles be anchored in everyday life? Our workshop series ‘Values, Principles and Vision’, ‘Collaborative Work in an Agile Environment’ and ‘Role Development’ offers specialists and managers in the insurance industry practical approaches to making their teams more agile and improving collaboration in the long term. These three intensive, practical days can change not only the way a team works together, but also its mindset.

A shared understanding as a basis

‘What is our why?’ – This seemingly simple question is the starting point for our workshop series. An essential part of the first workshop is developing a common understanding of the goals, values and purpose of a team. A shared mission is defined as the basis for future decisions and collaboration. This enables participants to develop a shared vision for the future that serves as a guide for teamwork and sets long-term goals.

To this end, we conduct an in-depth analysis of how each person in the team works and what requirements exist for collaboration. We record these findings in the first draft of a tailor-made and tangible team charter. This charter helps to commit to shared values and behaviours and promotes effective, harmonious collaboration.

Agility in collaboration

Many people talk about agility. We make it a reality, because collaboration in an agile environment is another focus of our workshop series. Working agilely means not only flexibility, but also a clear distribution of roles and coordinated responsibilities. The goal is to strengthen team dynamics and integrate agile principles into everyday work. Participants develop effective structures for their collaboration and learn methods for continuous improvement. In the process, it becomes clear that transparency and clear agreements are essential for efficient action. Participants begin to actively question processes, promote transparency and make feedback processes more courageous.

A key outcome of the workshop series is the development of detailed role descriptions for the various functions within the team. These roles are linked to agile principles and assigned individually. Finally, the vision developed is finalised so that all participants can identify with it and use it as a guiding principle for their work.

Communication and feedback as the key to success

Being able to speak openly without causing offence? Showing appreciation without digressing? On the third day of the workshop, there is another important topic: an open and constructive communication culture. Through clear communication rules, teams learn to give and accept feedback in an appreciative and goal-oriented manner. A trusting feedback culture helps to identify conflicts at an early stage and develop solutions together.

There is a particular focus on dealing with conflicts. Participants develop a common understanding of how conflicts can be identified, addressed and resolved. This results in a joint feedback manual that serves as a guide for everyday work. Another practical outcome is the Team Canvas, which visualises all the points that have been worked out and is displayed as a large-format reminder in the project area.

Conclusion: Sustainable changes for better teamwork

Many participants come with the desire for ‘better cooperation’ – they leave with a clear plan, a stronger sense of unity and tangible results. The feedback on the workshop series is consistently positive. The practical approach, clear structure and opportunity to develop concrete measures for their own team are particularly appreciated. Another plus point is our facilitation, which not only provides theoretical input but also offers space for individual challenges and solutions. Finally, some participants would like to see more focus on the practical implementation of specific problems – an aspect that we will take into account more in future workshop series.

The results – from the team vision and role allocation to the feedback manual – provide direct tools for making teams more successful in the long term.
