Background

The hearing aid industry has one goal: to ensure that product data, orders and invoices are exchanged securely, efficiently and in real time between manufacturers, hearing aid specialists and system providers.

Together with the German Hearing Aid Industry Association (BVHI), adesso has created a platform that makes this possible – HIDataSync.

HIDataSync provides manufacturers of hearing aids and implants with a centralised solution for managing their product data catalogues, controlling access and integrating the data directly into the ERP systems of their customers, the hearing care professionals.

What began as an idea for improving the distribution of product catalogues became the foundation of a digital ecosystem for the entire industry.

Challange

The BVHI represents manufacturers of medical hearing solutions in Germany – companies that compete with each other but wanted to work together to create a solution. The requirements came from a broad-based working group comprising manufacturers, ERP providers, purchasing groups and marketing organisations.

The biggest challenge was to involve all these stakeholders in a structured and transparent process while developing a technical solution that is sustainable, secure and expandable in the long term.

Solution

After an intensive analysis phase, implementation began with the aim of developing a platform that works for everyone. HIDataSync was conceived, designed and technically implemented in close cooperation with the BVHI and its member companies.

We accompanied the entire process, from the first Miroboard scribble to the data retention and deletion concept.

adesso not only took on project management, but also acted as a programme partner, developed communication strategies, marketing materials and explanatory short videos, and even helped to come up with a name.

HIDataSync was officially unveiled at the world's largest industry congress, EUHA 2024, where it was met with great interest and recognition from the entire industry.

Following the successful launch of the product data catalogue, it was expanded to include key business processes such as orders, order confirmations, delivery notes and invoices. This makes HIDataSync the digital hub between hearing aid manufacturers and hearing care professionals – a new industry standard that has emerged from cooperation and trust.
