SAS migration

Signal Iduna Group

Project

Signal Iduna operates a complex and cost-intensive SAS landscape under HOST (z/OS) with a multitude of individual SAS programs. For cost reasons, Signal Iduna decided to implement an SAS migration project from z/OS to LINUX.

The project requirements for the new operating system were realised in a one-year migration project by a joint team of adesso developers and a development team from Signal Iduna at its Dortmund location. The go-live of the converted programs was carried out step-by-step, which meant that the first programs were running productively under LINUX after just six months.

Result

Thanks to the migration to LINUX, the SAS batch programs of Signal Iduna now run in a more cost-effective system. Not only that, but application management will also continue to be run by adesso as a service GmbH.

The Signal Iduna Group offers insurance policies and financial services. The Group was formed by a merger between Dortmunder Signal Versicherungen and the Hamburg-based Iduna Nova Group.
