adesso and powercloud conclude strategic partnership for IT transformation and digitalisation in the energy sector

adesso and powercloud are set to become strategic partners in the energy sector. adesso will support the cloud provider in the fields of consulting, system integration, app development and operation when it comes to migration projects for energy providers. As an IT service provider, adesso has long championed digitalisation in the energy sector. In order to utilise synergies for the energy market, adesso and powercloud will now pool their expertise.

powercloud GmbH has been offering an open software as a service (SaaS) solution for the energy industry with its cloud platform of the same name since 2012 and is currently the market leader in Germany with more than 200 corporate customers. At present, powercloud serves eight million end customers and generates approximately six billion euros in sales. A further 20 million end customers are in the process of migration. The aim of this new collaboration between adesso and powercloud is to inspire customers from the energy sector to provide a better, faster and at the same time more cost-effective service as part of their modernisation efforts.

powercloud offers the industry a powerful CRM and billing system for this purpose and supports utilities, municipal utilities and soon also network and metering point operators in meeting the IT and customer requirements of the future. This is because the mega trends in the energy sector – the energy revolution, e-mobility, regional supply and storage – need more flexible, cloud-based IT infrastructures.

Marco Beicht, founder and CEO of powercloud GmbH, says: “Cloud technology is indisputably the core strategy of the energy sector. Our platforms and services enable the sector to create new lucrative business models. With our partner adesso, an experienced digitalisation expert of core business processes also in the energy sector, we can increase value creation in the industry and provide better customer service there.”

Energy providers in Germany, including some 900 municipal utilities, are currently occupied with the upcoming changes in the market for the ERP systems that they use. In order to make the necessary change in systems, to modern platforms such as powercloud for example, these providers need advice from experienced experts who can support change management and transformation processes on the move towards a cloud solution and a future-proof energy supplier.

For this reason, Frank Dobelmann, Chief Technical Officer at adesso, is on board with his team as a partner of powercloud. The CTO refers to the extensive project experience in the energy sector, which adesso can bring to the collaboration: “As software and migration experts in energy supply companies, we provide support throughout the transition to a modern, powerful cloud infrastructure. As app development experts, we are also able to expand the powercloud services to include industry-specific functions and services that optimise communication with end customers. These include business intelligence, data analytics and AI functions, such as chatbots, which adesso can incorporate into the innovative powercloud solution as a PowerApp.”
