The UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a guide for making personal contributions to climate protection, fair and dignified working conditions and combating hunger and poverty. They were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 and obligate all member states to work towards achieving these goals by 2030. The fields of action that adesso has defined are in line with and oriented towards these Sustainable Development Goals.

Developing digitalisation strategies and expanding digital infrastructure is part of our core business – this goes hand in hand with SDG 9 ‘Industry, innovation and infrastructure’. This goal is linked to long-term customer loyalty, as long-term customer relationships translate to greater leeway for sustainable business. We use our services to pursue the goal of making our clientele’s business processes more efficient and using forward-looking solutions to give them a decisive competitive edge.
As a publicly listed company, we’re obligated to continue developing our business in a positive way. We’re pursuing a proven growth strategy to ensure we do so. Increasing the number of employees and sales result factor into SDG 8 ‘Decent work and economic growth’.
Our goals in the environmental sector are based on the measures for climate protection listed in Sustainable Development Goal 13. adesso wants to reduce its offices’ CO2 emissions and procure the energy it needs exclusively from renewable sources. Our employees’ travel activities and the CO2 emissions from our fleet of vehicles need to be reduced.
With our She for IT initiative, we’re making an explicit point to promote women in the IT sector. adesso has therefore developed various measures and campaigns for female employees and potential female employees along the employee journey to increase the number of female specialists and managers. This meets SDG 5 ‘Gender equality’.
The professional and personal educational development of our employees also helps adesso to progress as a company. adesso achieves SDG 4 ‘Quality education’ by offering learning and training courses that include numerous professional and technical trainings sessions. This also includes the offers for apprenticeships and dual-study programmes, as well as positions for working students.
By assuming responsibility for society as a whole and our commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, we are referring to SDG 10: Reduce inequalities. To this end, we anchor the promotion of diversity and equal opportunities in many places within the company and reduce the differences between the national and subsidiary companies within the adesso Group.

The Sustainability Code
adesso also follows the guidelines for sustainability reporting of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and the national reporting standard of the German Sustainability Code (DNK).
The Sustainability Report of the year 2020 was reviewed by the office of the DNK and published in its database.
