adesso kicks off the new year with two new locations

adesso will continue with its expansion activities in the new year: the IT service provider is broadening its footprint in Germany by adding two new offices in Bonn and Leipzig, bringing the adesso Group’s German presence to 23 locations in total. This move is in line with adesso’s stated strategy of offering customers across Germany maximum proximity to the company.

In Bonn, adesso has moved into a new office building in the former Government Quarter, right on the banks of the Rhine, where some 100 employees will be working by the middle of the year. The new office is particularly beneficial to the approximately 70 Bonn-based colleagues who have already been working in adesso’s Cologne office. With 400 employees currently based there, the Cologne office is reaching its limits in terms of space, with the new, nearby location serving to take the pressure off.

This means that adesso Bonn will launch with a strong portfolio of customers based in the region. The new office will provide IT services to existing adesso public sector customers based in Bonn, such as the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin), the Procurement Office of the Federal Ministry of the Interior and the Federal Centre for Information Technology (ITZBund) as well as Deutsche Telekom.

Thomas Gasber, location manager for adesso Bonn, is pleased at how close the new office is to the University of Bonn, which will help adesso to recruit qualified up-and-coming IT talent: “Having been named a University of Excellence last year, the University of Bonn is now in the vanguard of German institutions of higher education. With its international reputation as a modern research centre, it will attract appropriately dedicated students from all over the world – and that is something we as a technology company can only benefit from.”

At the new Leipzig location, adesso has a well-maintained partner network that includes the city’s major sectors: for many years, adesso has been a partner of Energieforen Leipzig, Softwareforen Leipzig and Versicherungsforen Leipzig. These companies are among the largest independent branch networks in the German-speaking countries.

The new office will be located in Marktgalerie, right at the heart of Leipzig’s historic Marktplatz. With the office situated near the City Tunnel rail tunnel and just a stone’s throw from Leipzig University, adesso is positioning itself as an attractive employer in the city for both IT specialists based in the region and students. Professor Dr Volker Gruhn, founder and Supervisory Board Chairperson of adesso, was a professor at Leipzig University until 2010 and is a member of the University Council and the Executive Board of the Institute for Applied Informatics association (InfAI – Institut für Angewandte Informatik e.V.): “I am delighted that adesso now has a base in the city of Leipzig, which is currently making a name for itself. This dynamic economic environment will allow adesso to build bridges between IT theory and practice thanks to the wide range of sectors it serves.”

adesso in Leipzig is located in the Marktgalerie centrally on the Leipzig market.

The team led by location manager Dr Marco Peisker will be able to build on existing customer relationships in Leipzig. adesso provides services to Sächsische Lotto-GmbH and Leipziger Messe, which were previously served by the Berlin and Jena locations. The company recently acquired the local municipal utilities company, Stadtwerke Leipzig, as a new customer. Leipzig-born Marco Peisker described the process of acquiring and setting up the new office: “Our interests in the state of Saxony include the public sector, the energy and utilities sector, the automotive industry, the lottery sector and the region’s strong SMEs more generally. In addition, claims management for insurers – including the development of solutions based on artificial intelligence – will be driven from Leipzig. Furthermore, adesso Leipzig will engage with the local universities and give students an insight into the transfer of knowledge from researchers and teaching to practical application in software development and consulting projects.”
