MAN Diesel & Turbo SE

MAN Diesel & Turbo SE, formerly MAN Turbo AG, is specialized in building turbo-engines (compressors, gas turbines and steam turbines). The company shortly expanded its portfolio by merging with MAN Diesel SE. It now also builds high performance diesel engines (mainly for ships).

adesso AG had been ordered to implement an ideas management system which was to replace the existing structure of the company’s proposal management and which should support the enhancement of the staff’s creative potential. All processes, the gathering and the processing as well as the final premium payout, had to be simplified because the existing solution only worked very intricately: Ideas had to be submitted on written forms and were processed manually under high efforts.

The new design should foster the staff’s participation in the company development. adesso implemented an ideas management on the basis of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) which centers the development of the company’s aims by actively involving the employees. The solution is based on an easy recording process in order to collect, record and process ideas for improvement in a structured and transparent way.

Standard functions such as filing the ideas centrally, including different roles and rights and transparently following the processing had been implemented and tailored to MAN Turbo AGs requirements. The Center of Ideas, which had been realized with SharePoint form libraries, is the core of the system. It is easily accessible via a web browser where the staff can submit ideas or open discussion groups for trouble shooting. The publishing of ideas is also operated by the solution.

Thanks to the new possibilities the participation increased and the staff’s potentials are targeted integrated into the process of the company development.
