Credit Suisse Private Banking

The adesso Schweiz AG developed “funds lab” as internet-based information system for Credit Suisse Private Banking. It offers a wide range of information about funds of huge fund-raising organisations and provides a yet unknown transparency in the Swiss funds market. Funds lab represents a vital element of the Credit Suisse Private Banking strategy, namely to offer not only own funds but also third party funds.

With funds lab, Credit Suisse Private Banking wants to provide funds information in a highly user-friendly way. This information is to satisfy the demands of professional Credit Suisse Private Banking agents (intranet) as well as those of a broad investor public (internet). Funds lab provides the opportunity to interactively compare funds of different organisations concerning returns and other criteria.

With the project funds lab, Credit Suisse Private Banking was a pioneer on the Swiss funds market. Funds lab positions itself within a newly developing and dynamic field of online banking, which was shaped by numerous relaunches and a variety of user guidance and browser versions. In turn, funds data were only available for each organisation separately, and were absolutely unstructured.

To guarantee the requirements of wide internet availability, adesso implemented a robust and external HTML Client. The prototype of this user interface was developed in collaboration with a specialised web design partner and the experts of Credit Suisse Private Banking.

The funds lab sites are generated server-sided in HTML with a Java Servlet application. Data of all funds, key data and additional information are retained and structured in a central Oracle database. To import data of the diverse fund-raising organisations, adesso implemented a Java application. The customer is able to perform maintenance by means of an Oracle Forms application. An integrated calculation module, realised in PL/SQL, evaluates additional characteristic values of funds.
