adesso Schweiz AG realizes portal for Bundesamt für Statistik

Zurich/Dortmund, 07 October 2009 – adesso Schweiz AG develops a portal for surveying statistics in the area of education for Swiss Bundesamt für Statistik (BFS, Federal Statistical Office). This includes statistics for learners, teaching staff and educational achievements. The statistics program „Modernization of the surveys in the area of education“ is part of an application portal which will be implemented in three successive steps by the end of December 2010.

Various educational reforms (e.g. HarmoS for harmonizing the obligatory schooling) are evidence of the drastic changes in the Swiss education system. In order to represent this system on the basis of reliable and consistent information in the future, the Swiss Bundesamt für Statistik puts a broad modernization of educational surveys into practice. This includes the statistics program „Modernization of the surveys in the area of education“. The program displays an extensive description of the education system on all levels – ranging from preschool up to education in the area of high-level vocational training. Learners and teaching staff have to be represented in the same professional way as the financing of the educational sector is. Only by this, political authorities are able to get a concise idea of the existing conditions in the education system.

Up to now, persons have been listed by means of compressed data. In the future, data sets will be delivered as individualized data. This means, each single person will be registered separately. Moreover, the data sets are provided with personal identifiers and are thus comparable to each other.

adesso wins WTO tender

The IT service provider adesso succeeded against 11 competitors in the tender process of the World Trade Organization WTO. ”We filed a tender which was competitive on international scale“, comments Hansjörg Süess, CEO of adesso Schweiz AG. “We repeatedly proved that we are able to realize such complex projects on schedule and within the agreed budget“, says Süess.

The application portal will be realized in three successive steps: By the end of March 2010 the statistics for learners will be completed, followed by the statistics for teaching staff by the end of May 2010 and the statistics of the educational achievements at year’s end.
