Deutsche Rückversicherung AG particularly wanted to optimize the handling of their underwriting processes. adesso developed a web-based solution for the domain of risk assessment which makes assessments and recommendations quickly and easily available for the underwriters of insurance companies.

Based on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) the new platform contains not only all standard features necessary but also the individual requirements of Deutsche Rück which set high value on fully-developed search functionalities, user-friendly maintenance processes and an elaborated user administration.

The search engine supports underwriters in identifying and selecting those items which contain the required risk assessment recommendations. The application for system maintenance allows Deutsche Rück experts to store and release changed data without comprehensive IT know-how. By means of the integrated historiography, a previous status can be reproduced at any time in order to retrace former risk assessment decisions. The user administration allows a very easy activation of new users in the system.

The implementation as well as the testing of the MOSS-based manual took place in close collaboration with Deutsche Rück. Moreover, aspects of user-friendly search functionalities and maintenance processes were taken into special account as well as the design of the user interfaces and the form-based workflows.

By using the web-based manual, Deutsche Rück expert knowledge is conveniently made available to insurance companies. Deutsche Rück experts can instantly execute updates or upgrades; the new data are instantly accessible and usable for all insurance companies.
