Inventory System iskv_21c

For national health insurance companies the short-term changes of statutory regulations pose quite a challenge to the flexibility of the IT systems. The new system iskv_21c, intended to handle the data of 19 million policy holders of more than 200 national health insurance companies, is to ensure this adaptability and is meant to serve as a modern platform. In the development process the software experts in charge – supported by the consultancy of the adesso specialists – rely on a Model-Driven Architecture in order to facilitate changes in requirements in the course of the project, and in order to be able to guarantee the necessary flexibility of the system.

Implementation with a High Competence of Technology

adesso is primarily in charge of developing the MDA approach by order of BITMARCK. At the same time the company is also involved in the application development. After having defined the basis architecture in close cooperation, the generator has been developed and realised after nine months of work. The team opted for Enterprise Java Beans, JBoss as well as relational data banks and Swing-Clients to serve as the basic technologies. The MDI innovator was used as the UML tool. As a result, changes occurring in the special field, i.e. in the field of business logic, can be directly implemented in the application without any major upheaval on the basis of a generator-based transformation.

Technically the new system covers all requirements which need to be tackled by health insurance applications. Apart from inventory management as well as the accounting of premiums and services, iskv_21c also processes the payment transactions as well as the electronic data exchange with service providers such as hospitals, doctors and dentists.
